Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) announces the acquisition of the SAAS (Ship-as-a-Service) group.

Paris, France
– November 4, 2026

The acquisition of SAAS allows ASN to welcome highly skilled teams and complementary assets to its activities, thus expanding its expertise in areas related to its core business.

Based in Lorient with a branch in Marseille, with around forty employees and operating its own fleet of vessels and survey equipment, SAAS brings in particular maritime skills and resources to carry out reconnaissance, inspection, and intervention operations on critical subsea infrastructure, across various sectors such as telecommunications, offshore energy including renewable energy, environmental monitoring, or defense.

The combination of SAAS with ASN thus paves the way for a future expansion of ASN’s operational capabilities as well as the portfolio of services offered. It will allow to test new technological innovations in the underwater environment, and to give SAAS renewed development capabilities to serve its own clients.

This acquisition also strengthens ASN’s French maritime footprint by relying on resources operated by French crews, capable of intervening on the Atlantic and Mediterranean maritime facades and, more broadly, in other geographies as needed.

SAAS notably hosts engineers, hydrographers, technicians, ROV pilots, and marine personnel, all embarked aboard the company’s vessels. SAAS also brings the legacy of COMEX Marine, a renowned brand in the French subsea industry.

Alain Biston, President of ASN, commented: “We are delighted to welcome the SAAS teams within ASN, and to combine the talents and complementary capabilities of both organizations to design and deliver expanded marine and subsea missions to our clients, in a field where France has strong technological leadership.”

Hervé Allaire, founder of SAAS, said: “This operation is a new step in SAAS’s history, offering our employees and clients the opportunity to benefit from ASN’s industrial expertise in conducting large-scale, complex offshore projects, while preserving what makes our DNA, that is, a priority given to mission accomplishment.”
