ASN and OMS Group selected by Intra-Asia Marine Networks Co., Ltd. to build the Intra-Asia Marine (I-AM) Cable System.

Paris, France and Singapore
– January 19, 2026

Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) and OMS Group today announced they have signed a major contract with Intra-Asia Marine Networks Co., Ltd. (I-AM NW), the new company formed by NTT Data Group Company, Sumitomo Corporation, and JA Mitsui Leasing, Ltd to supply and install the Intra-Asia Marine (I-AM) Cable system.

The large-scale submarine communication cable system will connect Japan, Malaysia and Singapore, with additional connectivity to Korea, the Philippines and Taiwan. The system is designed to support the region’s growing demand for secure, high-speed connectivity and to strengthen network resilience through diversified routes, including multiple landing stations in Japan.

The I-AM Cable system will incorporate Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) functionality to enable remote adjustment of wavelength bandwidth by route and will adopt Space Division Multiplexing (SDM) technology, accommodating up to 16 fiber pairs (32 cores). Together, these technologies enable a total capacity of approximately 320 terabits per second (initial design).

Under the agreement, ASN will supply the submarine cable system and associated equipment, and OMS Group will lead the marine installation, drawing on its experience in complex subsea deployments across the Asia-Pacific region.

Alain Biston, President & CEO, Alcatel Submarine Networks said “we are laying the foundation for Asia’s digital transformation, ensuring resilience, scalability, and performance for decades to come. We are deeply honored by the continued trust placed in ASN by leading regional players. This project is a testament to our long-standing commitment to Asia’s connectivity future.”

Datuk Lim Soon Foo, Founder and Executive Chairman, OMS Group, said: “This contract demonstrates the success of our portfolio transformation, driven by a commitment to quality excellence execution, to support system owners in Asia-Pacific and to advantageously position the OMS Group for the next phase of global digital infrastructure. We look forward to leveraging our recognized expertise in marine installations to support I-AM NW in implementing a system that will ensure connectivity across key Asian markets.

“The launch of I-AM NW marks a significant step in strengthening Asia’s digital infrastructure,” said Yoshio Sato, CEO at I-AM NW, “This project reflects our commitment to delivering reliable, flexible connectivity solutions that empower businesses and drive digital transformation across the Asia-Pacific region.”
